Richard “Richie Smile” Tasie is an internationally recognized Afro-pop artist that is well-known for his smile, self-determination, and passion for his music. Richie Smile is a singer, song writer and a performing artist. Richie Smile is a native of Ibaa town of Rivers state by descent. He was born on April 12 th ,1991 in Enugu state and raised in Port Harcourt Rivers state where he
had his primary, secondary and university education with an Associates in computer science. At the age of twelve, Richie nurtured his vocal talent alongside his brothers in his birth place of Nigeria, Africa. Recognized as the ;Calvary Brothers," Smile and his siblings developed their vocal capabilities and artistry through performances in churches and throughout the community. When the group disbanded in 2010, Smile continued exploring the arts through dance which granted him opportunities to major platforms like Maltina dance all etc. Additionally, Smile's artistic capabilities landed him performance features on major international
music talent hunt platforms such as season 3 of Nigerian Idol (2012).
In 2013, Richie Smile moved to Lagos state where he continued chasing his dance and music dream and became one of the top video dance Artiste. Since then, he has performed with A-lists artists such as: Davido, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, Patoranking, Mafikizolo, Sean Kingston, 2Face, Seyi-Shay and Yemi Alade in both musical videos and stage performances as well as commercials on ONTV and MTVbase Nigeria.
In 2015, Richie Smile launched his solo career with a single "Baby Bugatti" produced by KrayBeatz which paved way into the music industry. He was later selected from an audition as one of the top 100 in East and West Africa to compete in a music show called ‘Star the Winner Is’ in south Africa. In 2016, Richie Smile released another razor edge tune "Gan-Gan" which was produced by Irockclassic. In that same year, Richie Smile also represented Nigeria in America's Hip-Hop International dance competition that was held in USA. In 2017, Richie Smile embarked on another phase of his musical career with a hit single "The Way" which was embraced by the public and there after Smile dropped the visuals for his debut single. Richie Smile became the choice of New England in the afro beat top shows which featured top artists in the music game. Smile also recorded and released in 2018 his rendition of Soco by Wizkid that he titled ‘Soco Refix’ which was well received across Africa’s top media outlets. Richie Smile has been working hard in the music industry and has grown in improving his music style and concept to meet up and exceed the music standards in the industry. Smile released his first Ep in 2018 titled ‘S.ENT’ which was a compilation of his previous projects. Smile has release other visuals and hit tracks like Don’t Go, You and I Wan Blow. On the 1st of June 2020, Richie Smile released his debut EP ‘’Far Away” to solidify his stance as a musical artist with a body of work. The ep contains high tempo club hits with a strong Afro dance feel such as Come Closer, I Like It, Far Away, Bend Down and Jeje. The ep was described as a real time new wave with a strong lyrical depth which consists of different musical genres to catch and satisfy every music lover and listeners. Richie Smile draws his inspirations from the struggles of life and the reality of love. He also gains insight from other great musical artists, dance artists and top players in the afrobeat scene blending his tune to suit the Nigerian trend. On the 13 th of May 2021, Richie Smile released another hit single titled “Waiting” which is a razor edge cutting afrobeat tune that portrays the reality and beauty of love and loving. The tune “Waiting” was first premiered in AY Live in USA and endorsed by Elenu himself. April 2022, the visuals for waiting was released worldwide which was shot in Nigeria by Avalon Okpe a high rated videographer.
To kick off the year 2022 with a new single, Richie Smile has yet again come
with a hit street banger afrobeat vibe titled “100k” which describes the hassle
of today’s women and lifestyle. Single is set to drop on the 29 th of April 2022.
